YAD AHARON & MICHAEL’S WALL OF THANKS
This page is dedicated to all the people who support Yad Aharon & Michael in every way. We are so grateful to each person who donates their time, their money, their clothing or household goods, their expertise or their care and love to our organisation. It is to you that we dedicate this WALL OF THANKS. Below are unedited letters,
sms’s or notes of gratitude we have received from the people whose lives we have touched…

“When my family heard about the Shabbos meal [catered by Next Door by an anonymous London-based sponsor] the excitement in the house was beyond special – you could have almost sworn we had won the Lotto, and in a sense, we have won the Lotto, and all because of one of the rarest gems in our lives – YOU. The kids have requested we start with dessert and work our way up to the Challahs. They are so funny and I adore them – for them, this is such a luxury, what a treat. Wishing you, your amazing family and the “angels” who made this “gift” possible a wonderful Shabbos and weekend, may you all be blessed in abundance with life’s richest blessings.

THANK YOU TO THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF RABBI FOR THE FLOWERS FOR THE SHABBOS PROJECT:
“Jo! Wow! I walked into my house today and saw these magnificent flowers. I thought they were for my child’s birthday – which is today – but the card is addressed to me! Thank you so so much for making my Shabbos Project very special. And the colours are magnificent to brighten my home.”“I thought this was a mistake. I almost sent the Netflorist guy away. No one ever gives me flowers! I have tears in my eyes. Thank you for thinking of me and delivering these to me. They are beautiful! I wish everyone at Yad a SHABBAT [SHABBOS PROJECT] SHALOM and know I am so emotional from your kindness”

GENERAL THANK YOU
BH – Hi Alice – Hope you are well. Thank You and all your amazing staff so much for all you do for all your Yad patrons. I so appreciate being a recipient of this Brochas. We are never, ever made to feel inferior just because of the situation we find ourselves in! On the contrary, we are truly a part of the Yaddies Family! PG one day soon, I will be able to give rather than to receive.

Hi Jody I must just say the box has been a G-d send. What with the pressure of my studies and earning very little at the moment – not having the stress of worrying how I’m going to feed myself and my brother is an enormous weight off! Plus, the holidays were such a joy – I cooked up a storm with all we received and only had to buy one extra bag of potatoes! My guests on two different nights were amazed at my table and I could be so proud instead of dreading the festivals, which I would otherwise have done. Truly, deeply and wholeheartedly grateful to have been blessed by the donors to Yad Aharon & Michael and ALL the staff too. Very many thanks 😊

Dear Alice. I want to tell you about my 2 year old little girl. Every Tuesday she just loves, loves going with my husbund to you to collect our package!!! She always asks him where he is going and when he says Yad she always wants to go with. She usually takes time to warm up to strangers, but she is so comfortable with the staff who are so kind and caring towards her, it makes my heart swell! I’m sure if you ask them about her, they will know exactly who you are talking about. I went once because she wanted to show me around her “special place” and I was blown away by how she was treated, and how at home she felt. Thank-you to all the staff for making her little weekly excursion so happy and joyful!!!!!
Much Brocha
To Yaddies,

To Yaddies, I need to express my enormous gratitude for all the extra indulgences we have been spoilt with over the Chagim! The assistance you give is so very much appreciated and, at this period, you find a way to extend yourself even further. Thank you for all that you and your wonderful crew do to help.

Dear Alice,
Certain circumstances in my life have changed and I am now in an economic position to buy my own food. I would therefore like to cancel my box as per our arrangement. I would like to thank you and your staff for a wonderful box per week which proved to be a life-saver. You saw me through a difficult time for which I am deeply grateful. Kind regards,

Dear Alice, There is no doubt that the World will never be the same again and that the “old order” of ego, greed, and power will now no longer be the priority. Yad Aharon has under your dynamic leadership and management become a vital cog in the Jewish Community wheel, and especially in these tough and turbulent times. That’s why I count my blessings and have spontaneously made Yad Aharon one of my preferred Tzeddakah Destinations. May you, Alice and your team of dedicated staff continue to provide the essential mitzvah of providing for those less fortunate in our community.
Warm Regards

Good evening Alice,
This email should have been written 3 weeks ago. I would like to thank you and your dedicated team of workers from the bottom of my heart for the exceptional work that is done to help people like myself who have hit a rocky patch. Without the kind dedicated hard work of you and your team, I have no doubt times would have been much harder and I would have been much thinner😊. I am now and always will be, please G-D I get out this rut, eternally grateful to you and your staff and volunteers for everything you do for us all. I am pretty sure I talk for many others. I wish you all a belated Shana Tova and abundant blessings.

Celebrate what we have.
Celebrate how fortunate we are!
Celebrate Yaddies going above and beyond to give us the most amazing boxes for Yomtov amidst the terrible pandemic out there!
Celebrate all the volunteers who give selflessly of their time!

From the bottom of my heart Thank you for everything and may Yaddies continue to grow and be there for us, your grateful recipients!

My dearest Al,
There are not enough words to describe how immensely grateful, blessed and privileged to have had a special Yom Tov with my precious family. Watching them eat the delicious foods given to us by Yad gave me so much nachas.Rosh Hashanah this year is definitely one we will never forget, because of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for opening up your heart and to each and every one that made it possible. It really means a lot to me. Wishing you a sweet new year! May you all have a year filled with good health, mazel, joy, brochas and abundant blessings.

Hi Alice
I hope you are well. I saw your recent message on Facebook, and I was deeply moved, at your love, caring and selflessness. If I can help in any way, even if we can plan in advance should you need the use of an extra bakkie for collections or whatever, please let me know. I have now been a part of the Yad Aharon family for a month. My fridge has never been so full. It is so good to be eating real food again. Last week I was blown away at the Rosh Hashanah hamper. When I got home I unpacked everything, looked at all of it, and I just cried. I hope the day will come soon that I will be able to switch sides and become a donor. Everybody there is so wonderful. I want to wish you and your family a Shanah Tovah and a Ktav VeChatima Tovah. May your year be sweet with love, blessings and good health. You are a real Eishet Chayil. And as the Piyut continues, ‘mi yimtza?” Who could ever find another like you. With warm regards.

Alice we don’t know how to thank you for the unexpected gift you gave us for Yom tov. There was so much goodness in those packs, that we were overwhelmed. We want to thank you for making our Yom tov – so abundantly special. We even have delicious foods which we can use to break our fast on.

FROM AN INFLUENTIAL MEMBER OF OUR COMMUNITY
Dear Alice, Thank you for the amazing work which Yad Aharon does for the needy in our community. We are privileged to have you as a cornerstone in our community. May Hashem continue to bless you and your staff in all ofyour endeavours.Shana Tova

Alice
I was really wanting you to know how PRIVILEGED I have been for being given the opportunity of entrusting me with the wonderful generous incredible food parcels which I collect from Yad Aharon every week. There were years in my life when I was able to be a giver and it was a lot easier to give. It filled the soul to know that one could help others. It’s not that easy now when one is on the receiving end. Thank you from the deepest part of my heart and soul for your generosity, kindness, sincerity and the love and care in reaching out to the community in the manner in which you do. People are able to keep their dignity alive and go home knowing that they can enjoy and appreciate the hands that prepared these boxes of food for us. It takes a unique human being, handpicked by HASHEM, to have the gift of feeding the body and soul of others whose need has never been so dire.

Yaddies,Thank you so much. Honestly. I”m out of words. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible food parcel and gifts you sent me. From the honey to the toothpaste and toothbrush, the grape juice, sugar free (YES) mango juice, to the challah and tins and bulk good. I don’t know where to start my THANK YOUS. Much love

Dear Alice
Thank you for being one of those wonderful, caring people. You do so much good and add a spark of joy to others. Your thoughtfulness, generosity and help when it is needed most, especially in these difficult times, is much appreciated. I am so grateful for everything you do for me. May Hashem shower his blessings on you, your staff and generous donors and your respective families and usher upon you a year of good health, happiness, prosperity and peace.

I just want to thank this amazing Organization [Yad Aharon] for the miracles performed. If everyone could just treat people with respect and kindness, just imagine how beautiful the world would be. With so much gratitude to Alice, the staff, volunteers and donors!

Dear Yaddies, Over and above my weekly food parcel, I received a hamper of dry goods for Rosh Hashanah. Many, many thanks for the wonderful assortment of foodstuffs, Challot, grape juice etc…. the list is endless! I know how hard u & ur staff worked to give us such a wonderful gift to make our Yom Tov special. Shana Tova U’Metukah!

Dear Alice
We cannot begin to express how grateful and relieved we are to receive the incredible food parcels from Yad Aharon. Your understanding of our situation has made an enormous difference in our lives and also made an extremely difficult situation for our family much easier, and we are truly grateful.
Once again, my gratitude is immeasurable!

Dear Alice, I don’t know how to thank for all that you and your very helpful staff do for me and for all who get boxes food and other things from Yad Aharon. In a nutshell, you do a wonderful job!
As Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are just around the corner, I want take this opportunity to ask HASHEM to bless the organization with many more years in helping and giving hope to those in need.
May HASHEM bless you all with health, happiness and a sweet year and well over the Fast.

ANONYMOUS LETTER OF THANKS:
I am unemployed and what I’m going to have in my house to eat is a constant worry. Then a box full of food awaits and I can smile and say: “Thank you Hashem!”
If this weekly “gift” is not reason enough to acknowledge that I am truly blessed, what is?
All my fondest love.

Dearest Alice
Thank you so much for the heart that you have, it was such a privilege to talk to you. You are an angel appointed to help people in need, as you show true love from deep in your heart. Your warmth, understanding and sincerity pours out!

Hi Alice, As one of Yad’s valued recipients, I believe that I must give credit where credits due. You have such wonderful staff members who have become good friends with me over the last few years. From the Security Guard at the gate, to your Shop staff, to Alfonso and Harrison in Distribution, each one goes all-out for your recipients, making us feel welcome, valued and “one of us”. This sense of belonging is a lifeline to all of us, all the more so due to the to the restrictions in inter-personal contact imposed on everyone due to the coronavirus. The staff really make us recipient’s excited to come pick up our weekly food boxes as we get treated with compassion and respect as opposed to being looked down upon as the poor and needy so often experience. The atmosphere at Yad really does make us feel like Yad is our second home. Please do let your staff members know that I have praised them so that they are aware of the good they are doing.

Hi Guys,
I can’t find the words to say thank you enough for the amazing, glorious, wonderful, delicious, healthy, nutritious, delicious box of food you delivered to me today. What an absolute treat – can’t remember when last I had sweet melon – OMG! You guys are the best. After a freezing cold day and no electricity, I’ve now had a hot meal and don’t think I’ll ever take that for granted again! Thanx so much, truly!

LETTER FROM A NEW RECIPIENT WHO RECEIVED THEIR FIRST PARCEL LAST WEEK:
Alice Hi, We have received our first parcel today. This is very much appreciated and only those in need really can understand what this means. Thank you so much to you and your incredible team for the care and support that you make available to so many in need. We thank Hashem for providing us with your amazing service to our community. May you only go from strength to strength.

Dear Yaddies. I hope that you are well and safe. I just want to say a huge thank you for all that Yad does for me and my family on a weekly basis. I really appreciate your help so much. Thank you too for the little surprises we find in our boxes on occasion – like the blankets and chocolate. These treats are so unexpected and we enjoy them so much.

FREEMAX FARMS supplied Yad Aharon & Michael with potatoes for our 660 families, during the last 4 weeks of the potato season. We are extremely grateful to Lynton Kadish and the Freemax team for their generosity. This is the letter we received from them: “To Yad Aharon & Michel. We all are extremely appreciative for all that you and your organization do for the community and thank you for giving us the opportunity to get involved. It is so special to know that your organization goes above and beyond to provide a literal lifeline to so many families! Thank you endlessly for that! May there one day be no need for an organization like yours. But until then, I wish nothing but Hashem’s richest blessings for you and all that work with you as well as your hundreds of beneficiaries!”

Without your assistance we would have never been able to survive
Your kindness
Your compassion
Your love
Your empathy
Your support
From the cleaners to the packers, from the organisors to the donors. You are all INCREDIBLE PEOPLE and to have been associated with them though our lean years was so inspiring. The people at Yad treat you as humans with a courtesy that goes beyond the norm. Please support this INCREDIBLE organisation. To Alice Freedman you are an angel sent down from HASHEM to help us here

Hi Alice. I have moved in with my sister and brother in law and they are taking care of my food needs. I now no longer require your food parcel assistance. Thank you and your most kind and caring organization and for helping me with everything I have required. I treasure the short moments of meeting and chatting to others in the queue and I commend your staff who also work with so much compassion. If I can somehow be of any assistance I will be humbled to do so. Much love and kind regards.

To the Yad Team, Thank you so much for taking the time to send such a meaningful email to acknowledge my Bikkurim donation. It is because of the work that you do, your unwavering commitment and complete dedication to those people who so desperately need it that inspires me to work harder so that we can at least make some contribution to help you in your monumental task.
Fondest regards

Thank you for taking care of us.
Your ongoing help and support is so greatly appreciated! We are comforted in many ways and the heavy load is lightened.
Hashem should bless you all. With much Hakarat Hatov

My wife and I would like to thank Yad Aharon for the wonderful gift of fresh produce foods we receive on a weekly basis and for the superb selection of dry goods every couple of months. The only way we are able to give back is by expressing a very sincere “Thank You” to you and the wonderful Yad team and donors who add and contribute, each in their own way, to the warm ambiance and generous contributions towards the Jewish Community in Need.

Dear Alice,
No matter how hard it gets you always do the right thing for all Yad Aharon & Michael’s recipients and always looking for ways to improve the service we are blessed with! Kol hakavod to you and your incredible “band of sailors” who selflessly stand by you as your “steer the ship”. There are no words to express my thanks to Yad Aharon for always keeping our fridges and cupboards stocked with such amazing, incredible food weekly! Thank you for always being there with an open heart and an open office.

Dear Alice
On behalf of the Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society, it was our pleasure to make a donation to Yad Aharon’s vital food fund. We are enormously grateful that Yad Aharon takes care of feeding so many people in our community and wanted to contribute to the essential role it plays always, and even more so now, with so many more people in need. The donation was made specifically for food and we are so pleased we could make a contribution towards your very worthy cause which makes an immense difference to our community at all times. Thank you for the wonderful work which you and Yad Aharon do! Wishing you all the best during these challenging times! Warm wishes,
Leigh Brouze

To the Yad Aharon Team,
The work you do is phenomenal and you have gone way beyond the call of duty during these extremely tough and testing times. Alice, you are my mentor. Thank you so much for being the light at the end of our tunnel, for holding our hand and saying to us – everything will be okay – we will win this battle together and we will get through it.Thank you so much for everything which Yad Aharon is doing to try and keep us afloat. I have no words to express our appreciation, and I thank you for being my rainbow every day!!

Dear Alice,The Covid-19 lockdown, put a standstill on my father’s business, making it difficult to put food on our table. I was very nervous to make the call to Yad Aharon as I was unsure if my father would be happy to receive assistance. But your kind words and understanding over the phone assured me that I was in good hands. You took it upon yourself to send my father an email with words straight from your heart that convinced him to complete the application forms. When we came to hand in all the required information, we were treated with dignity and kindness. Despite having to speak through glass doors and masks, there was still warmth and compassion. We were overwhelmed not just by the amount of food given, but also by the light shown amidst our own small pandemic. Thank you for taking my call. I am happy I made it.

Dear Yad Aharon “I have been DONATING TO YAD AHARON on a monthly basis via debit order to your organisation, and given the current circumstances I have no doubt that you are experiencing an unprecedented increase in the number of families needing assistance. TG I am still fully employed and therefore feel a responsibility to pass this on. To this end, I would like to donate additional funds over this period. Thank YOU as well for enabling me to assist in such a small way. It is in fact your selflessness and generosity for which I am grateful.
Long may you continue the amazing work that you do!”

Dear Alice and All staff at Yad Aharon.
I’m Writing this Email to you all with a heavy heart and, at the same time, a really joyous one!
I truly have not got the words to Thank you all for the Tremendous amount of work you all put in to help all the Families you support every single week.
Apart from the Food parcels and other basic necessities which one is able to request on the “Wish List”, the Warmth and Kindness and friendliness that you all Give is truly heartfelt.
Life has been extremely difficult since my retrenchment in October 2019 but things have taken a turn for the better and a life-long dream of living in the bush has materialized by Hashems Miracle work. I am leaving Johannesburg to work in the 2nd. largest animal sanctuary in the country!

With an abundance of Gratitude and Respect.Alice,
I am thankful every week for my food box and, without it, I actually don’t know how I would survive! I am trying my very hardest to get out of debt and out of my situation but it’s not easy! From the bottom of my heart, I thank you and every person who takes the time to pack our food parcels. I have not forgotten the money you gave me which assisted me to buy medicine. Asking for it was very hard and, yet, you did not hesitate to help me when I told you that I couldn’t do without those tablets. I would never take advantage of your understanding and compassionate nature nor of the kindness of your amazing staff and volunteers.
With love.

Dear Alice and Gwen,
We would like to thank you most sincerely for your kind assistance during our most difficult time.
Our situation has now improved enough for us to purchase our own food provided we are extremely frugal.
We therefore are no longer in dire need of the food parcels and hope that it will be given to someone who is needy.
We will never forget the unconditional love, kindness and care shown to us as “family members” and we wish you both well and all those who help in this amazing and life-saving project.

CARRIE PITLUK

I have had the privilege of working at Yad Aharon & Michael as a volunteer, for just over four years. It all began when Jody asked me to pack nougat for Rosh Hashanah food parcels. I packed and never left! Yad Aharon has given me the privilege to make a difference in the lives of so many people. I got to meet and work with amazing people who are mission-driven, and who care deeply about making the world a better place. I learnt many life skills – to take with me wherever I go – and got to assist with food projects: sorting and packing in the Charity Supermarket; packing food boxes; assisting in the soup kitchen: making sandwiches, serving clients; sorting stock and donations in various departments; as well as helping in the Reception area. Thank you to every volunteer and employee at Yad Aharon for making my time so meaningful and I will miss you all as I embark on my next journey which is joining to Israeli Defence Force.

Hi Beautiful Al,

YOU are a lady in a million. Thank you for being everything you are. My ‘boykie’ went to school on the first day and was so proud and happy with his brand new stationery. Thank you for making it happen. When he opened the packet, he was so excited could not stop saying “WOW”. He still said: “Is this all for me?” The smile on his face was priceless and I honestly don’t know what I would have done without your assistance! On Shabbos we had the most beautiful chicken and rice, it was special treat. THANK YOU Yad Aharon for making it possible. I also saw your adverts in The Jewish Report. Kol Hakavod ..they are really wonderful.. May Yad Aharon go from strength to strength. What a brocha to see you on Friday, even from afar! I feel so blessed and honored to know an Eishet Chayil like you! May you only know abundant blessings. Thank you for giving to others with such love, care, and purpose. Your dedication, devotion, and enthusiasm to the needy is an absolute inspiration to those around you! All my love and blessings

Hi Alice,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I honestly never thought I would get so much! It’s more than I ever imagined! The fish looks stunning. The children will love it especially during the holidays. The sausages look so amazing. My heart was so happy when I arrived home today, and my little boy was cutting his own mango. My family hasn’t had yogurts in I don’t recall how long! So exciting to have food!! Thank you. I am so greatful and so is my family. I honestly never thought I would get the most incredible and generous parcel and we all appreciate it every fiber of our being!
It really means the world to me, more than you will ever know. I hope to be able to repay Yad one day. I am so excited to cook my chickens for Shabbos, with such lovely veggies. I can’t wait! It’s really SO special!!!! Never looked forward to Shabbos like this before, I mean it!
Thank you my special Al
With all my love.

Dear Alice and staff,

I would like to thank you all for what you have done for me and other Jewish people in 2019. I really appreciate it and I am sure the others also do! Keep up the good work and have a relaxing, peaceful and sweet Shabbat Shalom and a Chag Chanukah Sameach!

Dear Alice and Staff,
Just a short “Thank You” for all the help you have given us this past year and the additional assistance and compassion you have shown us since my husband’s stroke.
The food parcels are a huge help without which we would not manage.
Enjoy your well-deserved holidays!

“Thank you, Al!” I almost fainted when I opened the extra plastic package and it’s been ages since I have seen so much food in my house! The bag was filled with groceries to enable us to stretch our food parcel over the holidays! I could not get over how much stuff there was in there. Are you sure it was meant for us and not a mistake? I almost fainted from all the excitement. Like a kid in a candy store!
Cream crackers….. chocolate slabs…… I honestly do not recall the last time we had such luxuries! Over the past 2 weeks, Yad Aharon have saved me and my family from drowning.
May we have only blessings xxx

My dearest Alice,
I want to thank you, your staff, volunteers and your donors for the most outstanding and generous last food parcel of this year which we received on 20 December. You have really put a lot of thought into which “extras’ to include in order to make it stretch over the time that you will all be on a very well-deserved break and, as for the weekly boxes, we couldn’t have managed without them! 2019 proved to be a very tough and stressful year for me and your support has gone a long way in seeing us through hard times!
I wish our “Yaddies families” a happy Chanukah and may the new year bring Mazel and Brocha to all!

Hi Al,
I want to thank you very much not only for the wonderful desk and food, but for Everything Al! I honestly can’t articulate my feelings upon receiving the desk I asked you for just 3 days ago! Since losing my family and everything else and coming to JHB, leaving everything and everyone I know behind me. You and Yaddies really have been family to me. Your generosity with food, clothing, home goods and financial help (when you were able to assist in that regard) is always given with the love and understanding only family can give and I mean that from the bottom of my heart! Al, on the day we met, you honestly saved my Life and Nashomah and you have continued being my pillar of strength through thick and thin! Thank you Yaddies for the lifeline you provide to hundreds of needy people in our community!

Hi Alice,
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do for us & the community.
To your entire team in the office, volunteers & the packers.
The weekly box, kiddies box & dry goods are greatly appreciated.
The kids love the treats.
All of the above help keep us afloat in these trying times.
You probably do have an idea of how much it means to everyone.
We don’t say it often enough.
Thank you, thank you, thank you ???

Hi Alice,
Glad to know the “Captain” and her “magic crew” will be having a well-needed and earned rest! Our thanks go to all from the top to the bottom. Your staff are incredible and emulate you in your kindness in so many ways.
I enjoy coming to Yaddies but wish was not under the circumstances that we have to. You have been incredible to us over all the trials we have had to face. Thank you for doing the special box for us who so desperately need the help as it’s a long time to get thru! Please count us in for the 31st. December distribution! My wishes to those going away to have a safe holiday and always in good health! Take care (Anonymous)

Dear Alice,
I just want to thank you for all your efforts and helping us with your generous parcels. It is really quite amazing that you manage to raise the food parcels. And also Alfonso and his team are so wonderful, caring and helpful. Hope that the New Year continues to be good for you and that you will be blessed with much health and happiness which you so richly deserve. With my sincere gratitude,

Good Morning Alice, Kim, Jewel, Alter, All the Wonderful Men who pack our boxes so diligently and the Marvelous Ladies who ‘man’ the Soup Kitchen. Thank you for your caring attention to our needs. Our gratitude doesn’t easily translate into words. Be sure that the abundance of food that we have received has been enjoyed and appreciated. May you be blessed with good health, peace and security at all times and especially during this festive season. With our sincere appreciation and affection.

Good evening, May I please convey my absolute gratitude for the work which your organization does for myself, my wife and for Jewish people from all walks of life. I would also like to convey my thanks to an anonymous donor who gave me a gift. What Yad Aharon does is simply amazing! Your front lady, Kim, is the epitome of graciousness and kindness and her appearance and compassion personifies your mission. Having also met Alice, she undoubtedly “steers a great ship!” With infinite gratitude!

Dear Alice and ALL the fantastic personnel at Yad Aharon. This is something I’ve had on my heart for a while now, an email to voice my sincere and heartfelt thanks and gratitude to this fantastic organization that has so selflessly assisted me as I began a brand new journey at the beginning of last year. Never in a million years did I believe or think there was an organization as Yad Aharon that stepped up to assist me after meeting me in ways I never dreamed possible!!! You have made my journey easier to bear! I would like to thank each and every one of you for the magnificent food items received each and every week from personnel that handle their work with love, care, concern, compassion, interest and professionalism!! I have to include the incredible Soup Kitchen volunteers who always go out of their way to offer a warm meal. I wish you all a Shana Tova and I look forward to becoming a donor to Yad in order to help others as you have assisted me!

Dear Alice and all at Yad May H shem bless you all and all your loved ones with a Shana Tova u Metuka and a Kesiva v Chasima Tova Your generosity and tzedoka will most definitely help make my Yom Tov and I’m so grateful for your wonderful tzedoka and Mitzvos which will enable me to celebrate Yom Tov the Chagim. May H Shem fill your cup with overflowing Brochos for all your needs for the new year. Tizku le Mitzvos

My dear Alice and the team. My family and I wish to extend a very big heartfelt thanks, to everyone including those who have supported Yad Aharon and Michael. Hashem’s gift of our weekly parcel is such a blessing and not a night goes by that I don’t thank Him and yourselves for the food we have on our table. May you be blessed with an extra portion of a health, happiness and a joyous new year, sprinkled with abundant nachas!

Dearest Alice,
I would like to thank Yad Aharon & Michael for the food parcel my mom receives. We appreciate all the kindness when she collects the parcel thank you for everything you do for her. Wishing you and everyone a Shana Tova.

Good day Alice, Just wanted to thank you and the entire Yad team for the amazing Yom Tov box. Without it I honestly don’t think we would be able to have a full and beautiful Rosh Hashana. We also really appreciate you and your staff working on the public holiday. I know how I live for the weekends and holidays. I know how particularly stressful this time is for you and the public holiday could have certainly benefited you. I want you to know that this doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Dearest Alice,
I would like to thank Yad Aharon & Michael for the food parcel my mom receives. We appreciate all the kindness when she collects the parcel thank you for everything you do for her. Wishing you and everyone a Shana Tova.

Dear Alice,
It occurred to me when I picked up our “box” that a lot of organisations have to write out their “vision” defining the reason for their existence. In my opinion, the vision of Yad Aharon and Michael shines through the warmth of the people involved. It is always a pleasure to visit. It is perhaps invidious to mention one name but Talli has been particularly thoughtful and I would, through you, send her my thanks. It is not only the physical help she renders, but knowing that there is someone thinking of you even in your absence and walking a mile in your shoes is, indeed very special. Thank you for all you do for the community!
Shalom

To all the Staff at Yaddies. I just want to say a big thank you to all of you, even though I don’t know you all by name! It’s always a pleasure to be greeted by smiling faces and everyone is willing to help. None of you have ever made me feel inferior! You have every reason to be proud of your organization and Alice is a one-in-a-million remarkable Woman! Nothing I ask for is ever to big or to small! You are an amazing team who shower us with love, kindness, warmth and so much more! If it wasn’t for Yaddies, so much would just not be possible! You are my family away from family!

Hi Al I just have to send you a note to say how much I appreciate being part of your “family”, even though I would really like to be one of the donors rather than the beneficiary (PG one day!). I always feel welcomed and loved by you and your staff and I have always
been respected and retained my dignity. Have a good Shabbos and restful weekend.

Good Morning Dear Alice, I hope that you had a good Pesach. Mine was exceptionally special and I would like to tell you why: Because of the wonderful food hamper that I received from Yad, (filled with everything and more!) I was able to host my family for a Seder; and have friends over for tea during Chol Hamoed. It is the first time in many years that I have been able to do this. There are no words to express my thanks. I know that you, your staff and donors will receive an abundance of love and kindness for all that you do for others.

Dear Alice and Jody Thank you once again for arranging the school supplies last year. You made the first day and preparation bearable. At least the children all went to school with all the books and stationery they needed. A huge thank you to the team.

KINDEST REGARDS

My darling Alice It is hard to put into words what I have to say but thank you.

Dear Alice,
I hope this e-mail finds you and your loved ones in good health and happiness.
I just wanted to drop you an e-mail to thank you so much once again for the assistance you are giving to my family. Yesterday was my son’s birthday and he turned 16, but the best part of all was watching his face light up as he opened his box of goodies (kiddies box), sheer delight would be an underestimation of his expression. I have no words to express how much we do appreciate all the assistance given to us, I assure you that it is not taken for granted and we are truly thankful for the assistance. Our gratitude extends beyond the limits of our capacity to express it.

TO THE TEAM AT YAD AHARON & MICHAEL.

Dear Alice, Before Pesach, I volunteered to help packing the food parcels for PESACH. As a beneficiary of Yad Aharon,
I normally stand in the queue, wait my turn and take the parcel of food and leave. That day, I arrived early and immediately went to work. Although I know what the contents of the boxes are each week, I had no idea how much effort goes into the packing and distributing the boxes. I was taken aback at the physical effort that is put into the process. After bending and stretching for 3 hours I was completely exhausted and amazed by the fortitude of the people who do this work faithfully every week. They are to be Admired and should never be taken for granted. Their Enthusiasm, and Generosity of Spirit are very special and their Dedication ensures a Very smooth and efficient running of their operation. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I had to work as a volunteer and was Blessed when I saw the people’s expressions of Joy and Upliftment on receiving their food parcels. Alice and your team, you can all
be very proud of the work you do to help a very stressed community.

Yours sincerely

Dearest Alice, I have been a recipient of aid from the Jewish Food Fund for a number of years now and I would firstly like to thank Yaddies for everything it has done for me and my family. We would have been in a very difficult situation had it not been for your kindness. I cannot express how grateful we are to have been on the receiving side of such generosity. I am also pleased to say that by the grace of GOD, at this stage we no longer require the aid and would like to see it go to someone else who needs it more.
Please could you cancel the weekly box that we receive. Thank you for everything, no words can express the gratitude for you and your amazing organisation! Kind Regards

Dearest Alice and the entire Yaddies Family, It is at this time of the year again when I start to wonder who, what and how I am going to make yom tov again for my entire family and the many people who would have nowhere else to go. However, my anxiety is short-lived because, once again, Yad’s phenomenal food hamper has been the answer to our prayers. This year has warmed our hearts, souls and whole beings with joy, gratitude, love and complete and unconditional warmth and sharing, that we are again this yom tov, able to have a full house of 25 people for first day lunch and second night supper , made possible with your invaluable assistance. That is for us to celebrate. We wish you and yours, together with all the recipients at Yaddies, a wonderful happy New Year and well over the Fast. May 2018 bring in joy, happiness, health and nachus – a bit of wealth also, but to have a good year ahead of us.

Precious Alice, RE SPECIAL HAMPER Many thanks for the hamper of groceries and cleaning materials which you sent with my food parcel. I was delighted to receive all the goodies and thought it was Yom Tov!!! I had finished my jam a while ago and hadn’t bought more since it has become so pricy. It takes me ages to use it as I’m diabetic, so I only treat myself to it occasionally not to have too much of it. Also, the peanut butter! Love it! Thank you so much for your kindness and thoughtfulness; you always go beyond the call of duty. Love and hugs, -)

Hi Alice Thank you and your team for the amazing work you continue to do, and never cease to amaze. I arrived at the Chev on Monday 30 August with no money, nowhere to go and between them and you at Yad Aharon, I was speedily given somewhere to stay and sleep and food regularly, which gave me stability and security, which enabled me to start looking for a job, which took two months and finally on the 26th of October I was offered a 1 year contract with an option to extend to 5 years, doing what I do best, and get my life back in order. If it wasnt for both this life-saving assistance, I would probably be dead now, but that was never an option I considered. Knowing that I had your support, it gave me the confidence and ability to go out and sell my skills, which at the age of 58 is not real easy. Thank you once again to you Alice, and your team for everything you have done for me over the last 2 months, and especially over Rosh Hashonah. Please send me bank details in order for me to start making a regular monthly donation towards your great, worthy, and ‘thankless’ work which you continue to do unabated, and should you need any volunteers or help for anything that I may be of assistance with, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dear Sir / Madam I would like to express my warm wishes and gratitude on receiving my Yom Tov parcel. I was very touched to see so much food and the effort and time you spend in giving people the opportunity to celebrate the holidays without going hungry. I have gone through a very rough time this year where I have almost lost everything. I cannot thank you enough to make it possible to have such lovely food on the table and gives me tears to see the smile on my childrens face. Thank you so so much , it is greatly appreciated. I wish you all a L’ Shana Tova and well over the fast. Thank you.

Hi Jody
Hope you are well and keeping warm. After our chat last week I was feeling very downhearted that there are so many people within our community that really live well below the breadline. Somehow we always think that this cannot happen to or with Jews. But sadly that is just a myth or for want of a better expression, a fairy tale image of what we (want) to believe. Then I got the mail from Alice and it made me feel even worse. You know we get up every morning and think “what are we going to eat today” and complain that it’s the same boring stuff as always. We don’t realise that there are those of ours out there who get up in the morning and think are we going to eat today and would look forward with relish to eating the same boring stuff if only they had the same boring stuff to eat. So as a bit of chesed for Friday and for erev Shavuot I have deposited R2 200,00 into your account ( pop attached) to cover at least another week of soup kitchen costs and would like to make this donation in loving memory of my dearly beloved departed parents Max and Ann Baitz without whose love, care, support and guidance I could very well have also been on the outside looking in. Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach Hillary and David Frichol and family

Hello Alice, Us humans are strange creatures. We have a comfort zone and we tend to take things for granted. My wife and I are no exception. A note of thanks, to you, personally, and your wonderful staff and generous benefactors. This morning when I collected our hamper I was given a new blanket as well. This alone was a wonderful unexpected gift, which will be put to good use. Apart from the weekly hampers, which we receive with great joy, we also enjoy a cup of nourishing soup, which goes down a treat. Please forgive us for apparently for taking the blessings received for granted. May the Great Architect of The universe shine his light upon you and give you peace. With much love and greetings,

Hi Alice and our family at Yad, Just a small note once again to say thank you to all. Not only do you keep us fed – and now with the delicious hot, thick fantastic soup with the most fantastic volunteers smiling and serving with love in the wind and cold of winter, but this Shabbos is my late father’s Yartzheit and thanks to you we can honour him by lighting a Yartzheit candle [we stock them in our Bayit’s ‘free’ Supermarket for our recipients]. “Good morning Alice Thank you again for yesterday, words cannot describe how much this means to me and my family. It was so wonderful not to have to eat toast for dinner last night, we all sat together and had a wonderful salad and pasta. I had to leave the table as I started crying seeing the kids enjoying the food. I am keeping the chicken you gave us for a very special Shabbos dinner on Friday night as we have so much to be thankful for this week. A very good friend said to me as we lit the candles two weeks ago on the Shabbos project, “one Amen creates another” so all I can say to you is Amen With love and appreciation”

Hi Al Hope u well? I was absolutely blown away today when Batya [your office manager] called me to say that not only did she have linen for me, but a microwave and a food processor too! It never ceases to amaze me how you can do what you do and to what extent you do it. How can I ever thank you in the manner in which you deserve to be thanked? Words just do not justify how I feel and how grateful I am. Not only can I “mush” my food now, but I can eat it hot too! With an enormous thank you to you and everyone at Yaddies and much love. G-D Bless you all. We & my 2 kids have been receiving a box from Yad Aharon for the past 5 years I think due to very hard times. Without the help and wonderful things that are put into this box my family would not survive. Fonzie has seen my kids grow up and I would just like to say thank you for everything as it seems it is not always appreciated. We look forward each week to our box! Fondest Regards”
